Static Multi-Latch installation styles

If you have any questions on how best to install a Multi-Latch to a particular structure, please e-mail Technical Support (photographs will help speed up any enquiry)

VERSATILE DESIGN FOR VARIED INSTALLATIONS

There are two main body styles: Standard and Tubular, and two main catch forms: Standard and Chain, the main differences and the advantages of each model are detailed below.

All locks, except the Dual, can be used with as many padlocks, or as few, as the user requires by using the pin blanking kits supplied with every unit. This process is simple, secure and reversible.

STANDARD BODY AND CATCH ON AN RHS FRAMED GATE

For RHS or box section frames Multi-Latch can be easily installed using M10 10mm (3/8") dome-head cup-square bolts (coach or carriage bolts). A standard fitting template is supplied to ensure all the correct tolerances are observed during installation. We recommend that shear nuts rather than conventional nuts are used, however if conventional nuts are to be used the nuts should be welded in the tightened positions and the weld treated with zinc rich paint.

STANDARD MULTI-LATCH WITH BOLT-ON CATCH, MODELS 05-BC & 10-BC. FOR DOORS, GATES, CABINETS AND BARRIERS

This unit uses the bolt-on catch and is ideal for gates and cabinets. The body has 7 possible fixing points, while the catch carries 4 points. The fixing points are optimised for 10mm (3/8") coach or carriage bolts (dome-head cup-squares). Fitting template and blanking kit for 4 positions included.

Multi-Latch can be bolted to outward opening doors using M10 10mm (3/8") dome-head cup-square bolts (coach or carriage bolts). A standard fitting template Multi-Latch fitting template. is supplied to ensure all the correct tolerances are observed during installation. We recommend that only shear nuts are used. Standard Fitting Instructions can be accessed here.

05-BC STANDARD CATCH MULTI-LATCH

The diagram details the main dimensions of the standard 5 padlock unit. For ten padlock Multi-Latch (for model 10-BC add 150mm (5 7/8") to the overall body length, all other dimensions remain the same. The catch is 12mm (1/2") thick for both models.

These dimensions cannot be scaled up to 20 padlock Multi-Latch which due to expansion tolerances requires a larger catch.

Fitting instructions and blanking kit included.

For swinging barriers with timber, RHS or box section posts Multi-Latch can be easily installed using M10 10mm (3/8") dome-head cup-square bolts (coach or carriage bolts). This fixing style is discussed in detail in our barrier installation page which includes a downloadable fixing detail. For ram-raiding resistant installations as many fixings points as possible should be utilised and High-Tensile bolts should be used.

STANDARD MULTI-LATCH WITH CHAIN CATCH, MODELS 05-CC & 10-CC. FOR GATES AND BARRIERS

This unit uses the stainless 8mm chain catch and is ideal for older gates, farm style gates, concrete posts, valves and securing plant. The body has 7 possible fixing points. The fixing points are optimised for 10mm (3/8") coach or carriage bolts (dome-head cup-squares). Fitting template and blanking kit for 4 positions included.

Multi-Latch can be bolted gates and barriers using M10 10mm (3/8") dome-head cup-square bolts (coach or carriage bolts). A standard fitting template Multi-Latch fitting template. is supplied to ensure all the correct tolerances are observed during installation but only the larger bracket details are used. We recommend that only shear nuts are used. Chain Catch Fitting Instructions can be accessed here. The chain is secured on either the other member to be restricted or on the same member as the lock body is installed to. The loose end of the chain should be retained by a bolt with heavy grade oversize washers or a u-bolt.

05-CC STANDARD CHAIN CATCH MULTI-LATCH

The diagram details the main dimensions of the standard 5 padlock unit with chain catch. For ten padlock Multi-Latch (for model 10-CC add 150mm (5 7/8") to the overall body length, all other dimensions remain the same. The catch is 12mm (1/2") thick for both models and the chain has 8mm thick links in high tensile stainless steel.

Fitting instructions and blanking kit included.

TUBULAR MULTI-LATCH WITH CHAIN CATCH, MODELS 05-TK & 10-TK. FOR GATES, BARRIERS AND VALVES

For Tubular Frames (CHS or pipe), where welding is not desirable, we supply the Tubular Multi-Latch. This Multi-Latch can be easily installed using the fitting kit supplied. The fitting kit includes a security back bracket and all M10 10mm (3/8") dome-head cup-square bolts (coach or carriage bolts) and shear nuts required for a secure installation.

The unit clamps to tubular frames from 30mm (1 3/16") to 70mm (2 3/4") in diameter. This unit uses the stainless chain catch and is ideal for gates, barriers and control valves. Fitting instructions and blanking kit included.

05-TK TUBULAR MULTI-LATCH

The diagram details the main dimensions of the tubular 5 padlock unit. For ten padlock Multi-Latch (for model 10-TK add 150 mm to the overall body length, all other dimensions remain the same. The catch is 12mm (1/2") thick for both models.

THE DUAL MULTI-LATCH 02-ST

The Dual is not shown as it is a mobile device, however for reference it has a 10mm (3/8") thick shackle. The standard Dual is 140mm (5 1/2") long and has 45mm (1 3/8) internal clearance on the shackle. These units have 13.5mm (9/16) padlock apertures.
